Yummy Cake is a Delhi NCR bakery that has been baking 100% eggless cakes in its own kitchen since 2014, delivering across Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad. The WooCommerce store behind yummycake.co.in had grown for years around a generic banner slider, and the homepage no longer told a first-time visitor the three things that actually win a cake order: it's eggless, it arrives in hours, and plenty of people already trust it.
The problem with the old homepage
The previous design opened with a rotating "Celebrate your day" slider and a row of category circles. It looked festive, but it said nothing specific. The eggless promise, the 2-hour and midnight delivery, the Google rating and the service areas were scattered across the top bar and footer, or missing entirely. Most cake orders are last-minute and placed on mobile, and those visitors need a reason to stay within a couple of seconds.
There was also no clear path for the two highest-value order types: fully custom designs and party cakes. Those customers usually want to talk to someone, and the site made them hunt for a phone number.
Redesign approach
The store had years of products, categories, city pages and rankings behind it, so a rebuild from scratch would have put all of that at risk for no real benefit. I kept the existing WooCommerce catalogue, URLs and checkout, and redesigned the storefront around the order decision instead.
A hero that answers "why order here?"
The slider is replaced by a single, fast-loading hero: "Fresh, 100% Eggless Cakes Delivered in 2 Hours", a one-line explanation of how the cakes are made, the full list of delivery cities, and two clear actions, Order a Cake and WhatsApp to Order. A trust strip above it repeats the non-negotiables: 100% eggless, baked in-house, 2-hour and midnight delivery, and the 4.8-star Google rating from 1,200+ reviews.
First-order incentive, applied automatically
New visitors see a "10% off your first order" callout that is applied automatically at checkout. There's no coupon to copy, and one less reason to abandon the cart.
WhatsApp-first flows for custom and party cakes
Custom cakes now have their own section, "Design Your Dream Cake With Our Chefs", laid out as three steps (share your idea, get design and price, we bake and deliver) with WhatsApp and call buttons right there. Bachelor, bachelorette and bride-to-be cakes got a similar treatment, with discreet packing and delivery called out, because that is what those buyers ask about first.
Merchandising that follows how people shop
The homepage is organised the way customers actually search: trending cakes in Delhi NCR, cakes by personality (kids, her, him), flavours, best-sellers, first-birthday designs and cake + flower combos. Product cards show the starting price and delivery promise ("Delivery in 2β3 hrs", "Same-day delivery"), so shoppers can compare without opening every product.
SEO kept intact and sharpened
Because URLs and categories stayed put, existing rankings carried over. Rank Math handles titles, meta and schema, and the homepage title now leads with the search intent: "Online Cake Delivery in Delhi NCR | 100% Eggless, 10% Off". Category and city links in the mega-menu keep the internal linking to high-intent pages like birthday, anniversary, photo and designer cakes.
Outcome
The redesigned storefront now states the bakery's real advantages up front, gives custom and party-cake buyers a direct line to the team, and removes friction for first-time buyers, all without disturbing the catalogue, checkout or search visibility the business already had.
