WordPress malware removal
and hacked site cleanup.
Redirecting to spam, Google warning, injected pharma or casino pages, unknown admin users? I find the backdoor, not just the visible symptom, remove it, and lock the site down so it does not come back.
- Remote, works with any host: SiteGround, Hostinger, Kinsta, WP Engine, cPanel and VPS
- Backdoors, rogue admins, database injections and malicious cron jobs checked, not only the theme files
- Clean-up report you can keep, plus hardening so the same hole is closed
- NDA on request. Agencies can white-label the work

Signs your WordPress site has been compromised
If you recognise any of these, treat the site as infected until proven otherwise.
Redirects to spam or phishing
Visitors, often only on mobile or from Google, land on unrelated or malicious pages. Frequently hidden from logged-in admins.
"This site may be hacked" in Google
Search results show a warning or strange titles in Japanese, pharma or casino terms. This is usually injected content, not a theme bug.
Unknown admin users or plugins
New administrator accounts, plugins you never installed, or files with random names in wp-content or uploads.
Host suspended or emailed you
Your host flagged malware, outbound spam or high CPU. Removing the file they named rarely fixes the entry point.
Modified .htaccess, wp-config or index.php
Rewrite rules, eval or base64 blocks, and code appended to core files are classic persistence tricks.
Reinfected after a "clean"
A hidden backdoor or database injection survived the first clean-up. This is the most common reason people reach out.
A process built to stop reinfection
01
Triage and backup
Snapshot files and database before touching anything. Put the site in a safe state and confirm the entry point if logs are available.
02
Find and remove
Compare core, plugin and theme files with clean copies. Search the database, users, options and cron for injected code and rogue accounts.
03
Harden
Update or replace vulnerable plugins, rotate passwords and salts, correct file permissions, disable file editing and add login protection.
04
Verify and report
Re-scan, check the site from several locations and user agents, request a Google review if you are flagged, and send you a plain-English report.
What is included
- Malware, backdoor and injected-content removal in files and database
- Removal of unknown admins, plugins and scheduled tasks
- Patching or replacing the vulnerable component
- Hardening, a monitoring recommendation and a written report
- Google Search Console security-issue review request where applicable
What I will tell you straight
- No one can promise a site will never be attacked again. I close the hole that was used and reduce the attack surface.
- If the host or an abandoned plugin is the real cause, I will say so and recommend the fix.
- If the infection is minor and you can fix it yourself, I will point you to the guide instead of selling you a job.
- Rebuilds are a separate quote, only when a clean-up is not the better option.

Let's Talk βWordPress malware removal questions
Common signs are redirects to spam pages, a Google "This site may be hacked" warning, unknown admin users, new files you did not upload, a host suspension notice, or sudden traffic from strange keywords. A scanner helps, but injected code in the database and hidden backdoors are often missed by automated tools, so a manual review is worth it if you suspect an infection.
Many redirect hacks only fire for visitors arriving from Google, for mobile users, or for people who are not logged in, so the owner never sees it. The code is usually injected into theme files, the database (options or posts), .htaccess, or a rogue plugin. Finding every copy matters, otherwise it returns.
Restoring a backup can work if you have a clean one from before the infection, but it also brings back the vulnerability that was used. I usually clean in place or restore and then patch, depending on what the investigation shows, and I take a full backup before any change.
Once the site is clean I can help request a review in Google Search Console. Review times are set by Google, so I cannot guarantee a date, but a properly cleaned site with the injected pages removed is what they look for.
Yes. I work remotely with sites on any host, and clients in the UK, US, Australia, Canada and Singapore. I need temporary access through your host, SFTP or WP-admin, and I remove the access when I am done.
Use the form or WhatsApp and mention that the site is hacked. I reply the same business day with next steps. Urgent cases are looked at first.
Yes, as a monthly maintenance retainer covering updates, scans, backups and uptime checks. It is optional; a one-off clean-up does not require it.
